DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

I used Pine State Pest Solutions for the first time this year for brown-tail moths and tick/mosquito control. I just assumed it would be incredibly expensive but was shocked at how affordable--and effective--it was. They saved my apple trees being decimated by brown-tail moths in one treatment and we went from having ticks being a daily occurrence to not seeing one all summer. Also, the added mosquito treatment left me bug bite-free all summer--and that is saying A LOT.  I'm a customer for life. Highly recommend giving this local company a call.

Pine State has been treating our house for ticks for two years. Prior to using their services, my son was treated for Lyme twice and we found ticks on our dog and cats almost daily. This past tick season we didn't find a single tick on our animals or in our house. It's worth every penny!

When do ticks become a problem in Maine?

Tick season generally begins when the weather warms and dormant ticks that have been waiting all winter begin to look for food — in Maine, this is commonly during late March and April, however warmer weather can cause them to become active earlier in the year. Tick season typically ends when the temperatures begin dropping below freezing in the Fall.

When should I worry about a tick bite?

If the bite area shows signs of infection including swelling, pain, warmth, or oozing pus, you should consult your physician immediately. Other symptoms such as headache, fever, stiff neck or back, tiredness, or muscle or joint aches can all be signs of diseases related to ticks.

How long does it take for an embedded tick to pass Lyme Disease to a human host?

According to the journal titled "Ticks and Tickborne Diseases", ticks that carry the Lyme pathogen will take between 24 and 48 hour after the tick is embedded to transmit to humans.
